Our Garden

In 2018, a group of P.S. 86 educators joined forces to create a garden with the mission of connecting students, staff, and community members to nature and local food. Through creating and maintaining the space, students and teachers have opportunities to explore the topics of urban gardening, food justice, environmental stewardship, sustainable behaviors, and other STEAM topics! The garden also provides a space to practice mindfulness and tranquility as a way to reflect on emotions and how to respond to these.

The garden is currently in full bloom! From tomatoes, to broccoli, a number of herbs, and flowers, we welcome our communities to enjoy a little piece of nature in our Bronx backyard.
